I’ve been doing this podcasting thing, personally, since 2007. I’ve been working live audio, since the late/middle 70′s and I’ve been involved in one way or another in broadcast video and audio for over 20 years. Does that mean I know it all? Of course not! It just means that I’ve had a lot of experience with making good live sound happen, recording (capturing) audio and video and later editing that audio and/or video for broadcast or some other type project. So… does that mean you should listen to me? Of course not! It just means I’ve had a lot of experience in the field and I’ve seen a lot of changes in the way things have been, and are, done. The latest change in the process, (in my opinion), is the words people use to describe what this form of media is. The latest cover-all word that describes what was once called podcasting is now called Netcasting. I remember several years back there was often a discussion of what this method of presenting audio and video would be called. The descriptive terms that gained the most traction at that time were Podcasting, Webcasting and Netcasting. Now, thanks to some [...]

Now, thanks to some strong voices in the industry that have been around a long time, the descriptive word of choice is the latter of the three metioned above, Netcasting.

Personally, I think it is probably the best choice since it better tells the story of what is going on. What we do is “Netcasting” because more and more people are listening to more and more information over the net either via their laptops, tablets, ipads or smart phones and less people are listening to it via those small devices called ipods. (Don’t worry, I know some were called mp3 players and some were called Zunes, but the comment and the principle is the same.)

Does that mean they are dead and gone? No, it simply means they have been (or are being)replaced by a piece of equipment that does more than just play audio or video. (Yes, I know people still use those other things, but they are no longer the only game in town anymore than the cable company is the only means of receiving programming on your TV set.) In fact, many people are using equipment to stream programming to their TVs instead of using the cable company (or those other guys like DirecTV and Dish Network) as their method of delivery. Of course they may have their streams delivered over the cable or telephone line, but they have access to more of what they want to watch or listen to and they have it at a time they want to watch or listen to it rather than being bound by schedules set by someone else and they are usually getting it without having to pay for things they never watch anyway. (Wow, that was a long sentence.)

So what is my point, you may ask???

It’s simple… we are trying to keep up with the times and we are changing the focus of what we will be talking about here on Podcasting Resources more towards Netcasting and less focused on simply podcasting. Although they are much the same, one name fits the totality of the information better than the other does. So, if you hear us talking Netcasting more and podcasting less, don’t worry; we are still giving you great information on recording, editing and broadcasting your message to your chosen masses. The names may change but the process doesn’t… it just gets better.

Our focus for the coming year is to give you more of what you may be looking for and pointing you to people that can give you even more of the same great information. I can’t speak for everyone, but I have always said, if I don’t know the answer, I probably know someone who does or can point you to someone who will.

I/We have many favorite sources of information and places we go to find answers to our questions. One of those places I will give you a link to right now, but, I’m sure you already know about them. If you don’t, check them out at:

>>> http://www.twit.tv <<<

If you haven’t visited their site, you should and if you have, then you already know what I’m talking about…

I’ve been very busy and I’m excited about many things that have been going on. In actuality, I’ve just finished my second book and I am working on making the audio version of it. Yeah, that’s right, using exactly the same principles and techniques I use here at Podcasting Resources. Now, the books are not available to the public just yet, but they will be in the coming months. In fact, at the present, I’m working on one associated with this site called, “Podcasting On The Cheap.” It will be available in both an eBook version and an audio version. I have some interesting things to “show-n-tell” you about as that gets closer to being done so keep on checking back because I’ve got some interesting things planned for the near future. I think you will find it a useful tool to use as you pursue your own projects in the future. Remember I told you a while back [...]

Hello everybody; I know it’s been a while since I actually posted something new here, but I didn’t want you to think I’ve just been sitting around doing nothing (because I haven’t.) I’ve been very busy and I’m excited about many things that have been going on.

Remember I told you a while back I was getting ready to make some changes to Podcasting Resources and, well, that time is here. I can’t say whether or not the name of this blog is going to change along with the direction, but, I can tell you this; Podcasting Resources is just going to get better (no matter what the actual title of this blog becomes.) Don’t worry; you’ll still be able to find us at our url – www.podcastnorm.com — although you will be able to find a whole lot more, too.

I have a lot more great people connections than I did when I started this back in 2007. Back then, I knew hardly anyone and the technology was kinda new. Now, the technology has advanced in a big way and I know some really great people that know a lot about recording, editing, podcasting, vcasting and a whole lot more. Don’t fret though, I intend to tell you how you can pick their brains as I have over the last several years instead of me trying to relay it word for word; (sometimes it loses something in the translation.)

You see, Podcasting – Blogcasting – Article Writing (and all that goes along with them), well… they’re what I do. I don’t do it just to make money or try to impress people with what I know because I already know how much I don’t know, (and the Lord knows, I can always use more money.) I’m learning more everyday and I like to help others learn new stuff too.

At the end of this “blog/cast”, the S3 media player will take you to my latest blog/cast at my NASCAR site, www.nascarfansview.com I really think you’ll like it, (I’ve made some changes since the last time I told you about it. See what you think of the change in the music. I love it! (but then I am an old rocker at heart.)

The first of the new articles will be up and available Monday sometime. But, check back often, ‘cause you never know what you might miss… It just might have been what you were looking for!

I’m not doing this to brag or to get you to buy something, but I do want you to see that not every production has to be an interview with some guru about some subject that takes 90 minutes to get to the reason they wanted you to listen in the first place — buy their product! Yeah, I know not everyone that makes podcasts just wants you to buy something and not everybody just wants to entertain you. I will be the first to tell you, most of those type things are well produced and often offer great information about the subject they talk about, but there are a number of other reasons to use podcasts, blog/casts, v-casts or whatever you might think of.
I know I’ve talked a lot about podcasting over the last several years, but I do have good reasons for making podcasts and productions and I want you to check out at least one of these three short podcast demos from PodCastNorm Productions. (I’ll give you links for them here at the end of this article.)

One of the reason’s I take the time to make a production out of reading my articles is for those that may not be able to read because of eyesight or health issues. Another would be so they can listen on the fly while they are walking, exercising or driving down the road. In a way, I offer to read my articles to them, (or you), so they, (or you), can multi-task and still absorb the information and hopefully use it sooner or later, depending on what the case may be.

I try my level best to make the presentation acceptable on many levels so that it isn’t offensive to the listeners in several ways. I don’t want to offend them by using harsh language and I try to make the music I use fit the project. I want it to sound at least somewhat professional and not like it was recorded in some large auditorium (although I know those type recordings have their place also.) I try to do the best I can with what I have.

Another reason I read them is because I know I may not be able to capture in writing the text the way I meant for the reader to read it. By reading it, I can put the emphasis where it needs to be for the listener to properly understand what I meant. (At least, I hope I accomplish that.) Voice inflection, chuckles and laughter can often make a big difference in the way something is understood. They also give the listener/reader some insight into the personality of the person presenting the information and, along the way, hopefully making it a more pleasing experience.

So, I tell you this today for two reasons…

So I can demonstrate to you at least one of the other type productions I make through PodCastNorm, (PCN Productions)

To give you some other ideas for making podcasts, blog/casts, v-casts or whatever type presentation or production you would like to make.

The first one I am sending you to is:

<< www.nascarfansview.com >> (Yes, it is about NASCAR from a fan’s view and I hope you like it.)

Please do click on the link and listen to the production all the way to the end. The reason I ask this of you is because I have inserted a commercial in it and I want you to see how you can make commercials for yourself, or others, and turn out productions, if not for yourself, at least for others that may not have your capabilities or talents.

The second one is another of my sites that I use for sharing on a more personal level. (I am still working on this site and it is a growing project that I will be adding more content to on a regular basis.) Please click on this link and just listen to it…

Once you arrive on the site, it should begin playing almost immediately. When it finishes, it will redirect you to the next page which contains a video of one of the songs I’ve written. (I would like you to watch the video and hear the song, too, because it is part of what I want you to see about the possibilities for production and podcast ideas and about ways to use your websites to present your material of all kinds.)

Who knows, this could open up whole new opportunities and possibilities for you as you look for a place to use your talents to make productions for yourself or others…

I'm not doing this to brag or to get you to buy something, but I do want you to see that not every production has to be an interview with some guru about some subject that takes 90 minutes to get to the reason they wanted you to listen in the first place -- buy their product!

One of the reason's I take the time to make a production out of reading my articles is for those that may not be able to read because of eyesight or health issues. Voice inflection, chuckles and laughter can often make a big difference in the way something is understood. They also give the listener/reader some insight into the personality of the person presenting the information and, along the way, hopefully making it a more pleasing experience.

So, I tell you this today for two reasons...

So I can demonstrate to you at least one of the other type productions I make through PodCastNorm, (PCN Productions)
To give you some other ideas for making podcasts, blog/casts, v-casts or whatever type presentation or production you would like to make.

The first one I am sending you to is:
